Turkmen rugs are the original velvet of Central  Asia. They have unworldly designs that have evolved into a crystalline state of perfect balance. I would estimate that at least 1000 years of development has lead to the perfection of the 19th century Tekke Turkmen carpet.From the 9th century designs and skills were passed from mother to daughter and perfected over many generations, through time they evolved into a highly accomplished art form.
