N.W.Persian long rug
Description
This late 19th – early 20th century weaving is “conditionally challenged” but its unusual border and archaic field design is very appealing, especially against the yellow ground. Given its single-wefted cotton foundation I have come to the tentative view that it is best attributed to the Baktiari, but whatever the provenance it remains an alluring example of the weavers art.
