Chinese pillar rug

Description

Chinese pillar rug, in good condition. Notwithstanding its self-evident age (late 19th century), this weaving has probably never been on the floor and retains its original full thick pile. With distinctive Buddhist emblems, it may have been woven for the Tibetan market, but note the Mongol inscription in the middle of the lower half.
